Seminar “Specialised Stock Market” |
On 6 November the Intercontinental Almaty Hotel hosted a seminar, “Specialised Stock Market”. The event was a Kazakhstan presentation of the new London Stock Exchange trading floor, which opened and began operating on 1 November 2007.
The seminar participants, made up of top managers and financial directors of the largest Kazakhstan companies, showed great interest in the report of John Edwards, a senior manager on the London Stock Exchange for Central and Eastern Europe. Mr Edwards gave a detailed talk on the objectives of and possibilities for the new floor, and likewise spent a lot of time talking about the Alternative Investment Floor of the London Stock Exchange as it is currently the fastest developing exchange instrument.
Tm Russell, a corporate finance partner from Deloitte also gave an interesting talk. He shared his vision for the creation of a private capital institute in Kazakhstan and Central Asia, and also talked about the successes and difficulties that western companies meet when working with private capital.
The Deloitte initiative was very successful and met with requests to continue the informative and educational seminars in the future.
