Everald Dewar is a Senior Manager at Deloitte Jamaica. He is a Chartered Accountant and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountant of Jamaica (ICAJ) Tax Committee. Everald holds a Bachelor’s Degree in BA majoring in accounting (University of Technology) and Diploma in Higher Education LLB. He is an ATII Tax Specialist and is currently pursuing a Law Degree.
Everald offers over 12 years experience working in the Public Sector in handling tax matters at the Income and General Consumption Tax Departments. He has over 11 years of experience working in the Private Sector in Accounting, Auditing, Taxation and Banking He possesses experience in various areas of International Taxation.
As the Senior Tax Manager Everald Dewar reports to the Tax Partner and is responsible for the following:
- All tax strategy, planning and engineering for the firm’s clients (personal and corporate).
- Providing guidance on mergers and acquisitions
- Performing institutional assessments on various clients.
- Carry out tax reviews on a wide range of trade and business operations of companies and individuals
- Advice on all tax types including PAYE, income tax, General Consumption Tax, transfer tax and Stamp Duty, etc..
- Liaise with the Tax Authorities on behalf of clients with a view to settling objections and resolving tax issues.
- Prepare and present advice to foreign/expatriate clients.
Everald has assisted with training of senior tax auditors at the Revenue Departments on behalf of the Revenue Board and continues to do presentations at workshops and seminars in Jamaica on all tax types. He was a Senior Lecturer in Caribbean and Jamaican Taxation (University of Technology Business Department) and has also lectured on various topics of the ACCA professional examinations. Everald is a Kiwanian and has served as Double Distinguished Secretary of the Kiwanis Club of Spanish Town.
