Deloitte in collaboration with OIFC releases a reference book for NRIsReturning Indians-All that you need to know |
New Delhi, January 11, 2012: During the 10th Pravasi Bhartiya Divas Convention here in the pink city, Overseas Indian Facilitation Centre with Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India Pvt. Ltd. as a knowledge partner released “Returning Indians - All that you need to know” - a reference book for Non-resident Indians (NRI) and Persons of Indian Origin (POI). The publication is aimed to be a one point reference book for those who are seeking to return to India. It provides an insight into the socio-economic and cultural landscape in India.
“Returning Indians” gives an overview of the immigration and taxation systems in India while highlighting the specific provisions applicable to NRIs/PIOs. Besides, it also details the banking services available and investment avenues that could be explored by returning Indians. According to Rajesh Srinivasan, Senior Director, Deloitte in India, “We are glad to release this reference book. We have put in great efforts to make this publication to be of ready use to those who are planning to return back to our homeland.”
He further added that, “India has come a long way since independence to being one of the fast developing nations in the world. The Government is facilitating this through various measures - regulatory and economic. There are ample opportunities in India today for one to capitalise on and the overseas Indians could put the experiences gained abroad to effective use back home.”
The book has been prepared in a lucid form with case studies and frequently asked questions on the subjects covered. Besides a list of useful websites and schemes by the Central and few of the state governments for overseas Indians, the publication also provides contacts of nodal agencies.
