Perspectives on education, skill and employment


The education sector continues to remain in focus with the Finance Minister, in his Union Budget 2013 speech, highlighted the critical role it plays in the life of an individual. He also mentioned that education is a high priority of the Government thereby increasing the allocation to this sector by 17% to Rs.65,867 crores ($12 bn). Further, in order to address the challenge of increasing number of unskilled youth entering the job market, the Government has proposed to provide a monetary incentive of  Rs.10,000 to an individual passing a recognized skill based training course.
