Welcome to the Deloitte Ireland Budget 2010 podcast.

Budget 2010 is most likely one that won’t be forgotten quickly. The Minister has achieved expenditure savings of €4bn with, as expected, a large slice coming from public service pay and social welfare cuts. In many ways, it can be said that the Budget has been about restoring international confidence.

In our Budget 2010 podcast, we are joined by Paul Reck, head of tax policy at Deloitte Ireland. Paul, who has also been tweeting about the Budget, discusses some of the key measures and how they affect the relevant interest groups.

He covers such as issues as whether:

  • There is tax reform or any sense of a new direction for the tax system in the Budget
  • The idea of innovation, R&D and the smart economy at the centre of government thinking is reflected in any new initiatives
  • The Budget will help inward investment into Ireland
  • There are any tax changes that will affect domestic businesses
