Survey findings: Regulatory reporting

CIO Survey 2012

The number of organisations that are required to produce regulatory reports remains unchanged. In last year’s survey, 67% of participants expected regulatory requirements would drive an increased workload in 2012.

This has been reflected in the survey results with 65% of respondents indicating that it did in fact become more of a burden.

More than half of CIOs who responded in 2011 felt that their organisation struggled to meet regulatory reporting requirements and deadlines. There has been a significant drop this year with only 23% reporting the same. This could be due in part to improved enterprise information management and automation tools which have helped move regulatory reporting to a sustainable footing.

CIOs have indicated an increase in reporting issues brought about by the extent and speed of business change. This suggests that there are still opportunities for technology to reduce the reporting burden and free key staff to support the change and growth of businesses through 2013.
