Deloitte presents Milford Hospice with proceeds of 10km charity run/walkOver €35,000 raised from recent event |

Deloitte, the leading business advisory firm, today presented Milford Hospice with the proceeds of the recent 10km run/walk. Over €35,000 was raised as a result of the event, which was presented to Pat Quinlan, Chief Executive of Milford Hospice, a provider of specialist palliative care and older persons services to the people of the mid-west region.

The run, which was organised and supported by Deloitte, took place on 20 January 2013. Over 1,300 people participated in the event and all funds raised will go directly to the hospice.
Gerard Lyons, Regional Partner in Charge, Deloitte commented: “We are absolutely thrilled to be making this presentation to Milford Hospice and delighted to be playing our part is supporting the fantastic work they do. I would like to say a special word of thanks to the many people who completed the Milford 10k on a cold January morning. It was an early start for our participants but that certainly didn’t dampen enthusiasm, and I think the vast majority were delighted to finish in time to see Munster beat Racing Metro in the Heineken Cup later that day!

The focus of Milford Hospice is to provide patient-centred specialist palliative care services of the highest standard for patients and their families throughout Limerick, Clare and North Tipperary. Speaking afterwards, Milford’s Chief Executive, Pat Quinlan said: “What a great event the Milford 10k turned out to be, proving to be a new and interactive opportunity for the public to lend their generous financial support towards our work. Last year, Milford Hospice cared for over 1,200 patients incorporating both in-patient and community settings, and in recent years we have been developing new outpatient and daycare services, together with enhanced community services, all of which are aimed at supporting patients and their families in their own homes. In the current climate of ongoing reductions in public funding, we are more reliant than ever on public goodwill to support new fundraising events.
“We are very grateful to Deloitte, the members of their organising committee and all the many committed helpers who generously contributed to hosting this event so successfully. The tremendous level of participation, team spirit and community effort we witnessed on the day is a ringing endorsement of public support for hospice services in the Mid-West.”
The presentation to Milford Hospice was made in Deloitte’s recently expanded office on Charlotte Quay in Limerick by Brendan Jennings, Managing Partner, Deloitte.
