Deloitte wins ‘Private Sector IT Project of the Year’ at ICT Excellence Awards!

Deloitte, the leading business advisory firm, has won the Private Sector IT Project of the Year award at the 2011 ICT Excellence Awards. Deloitte received the accolade for its work with O2 in developing a business enabler solution. The private sector award is presented to those who are responsible for delivering an outstanding application of enterprise-level business technology.

Deloitte was engaged by O2 to deliver a solution which would improve customer experience and reduce costs in both the SME and corporate markets. In order to meet these requirements, the cloud computing solution, based on the Salesforce.com platform, consisted of two distinct phases – delivery of an efficient and highly automated business sales support system for O2’s SME business division and its fulfilment partners, and the implementation of a corporate customer portal, www.blueclick.ie, which enables O2’s corporate customers to manage their day to day operations with O2 online.

Pictured at the ICT Excellence Awards are (l - r) Niall Gorman, Service Delivery Manager, 02, Michelle O'Sullivan, Senior Consultant, Deloitte, Robin Strahan, Senior Consultant, Deloitte, Myra O'Neill, Head of Channel Strategy, 02, Michael O'Dea, Change Consultant, 02, Liz Caughey, Business Online Manager, 02, Harry Goddard, Partner, Deloitte, Dylan Hayes, Senior Manager, Deloitte, and Cormac Hughes, Partner, Deloitte

Both solutions required different technical approaches. The solution for the SME team supported a number of different channels including a field based sales team that accelerated the customer sign-up process. A branded corporate customer portal was also delivered, providing market leading services for O2’s corporate customers. The overall solution was based on a cloud computing platform which brought benefits such as avoiding IT infrastructure costs, reducing IT support costs and which also enabled a quicker speed to market.

Commenting on the win, Harry Goddard, Partner, Consulting, Deloitte, said: “We are delighted to be recognised at the awards for our work with O2. There were two very distinct needs that needed to be addressed as part of the overall project. The team here not only implemented an innovative project that made best use of the most up to date technology, it also worked closely with O2 to deliver a solution that created real business value. To cite just one example of this – the time taken to fulfil SME contracts has fallen from 3-5 days to less than five minutes, which speaks for itself. It is great to receive this award as recognition for our work, and I am extremely proud of the team here!”

Alan Brown, Business Sales Director at O2 said “It’s great that the team have been recognised at the ICT Excellence awards. The solution delivered is enabling us to engage in a different way with our customers and improve customer experience significantly.”

This year’s win for Deloitte comes following its success at last year’s awards, when it won the Public Sector IT Project of the Year award. Deloitte received this accolade for the work they carried out for the Arts Council in establishing its online customer services facility.

The 2011 ICT Excellence Awards were presented at an industry gala dinner in the Royal Marine Hotel, Dublin, on May 19th. The Awards showcase the very best from the ICT Industry in Ireland, highlighting how innovative, creative and robust the industry is.
