Steve Dahl, head of Deloitte's Public Sector practice for the Midwestern Region in the US, was the Deloitte partner responsible for a major transformation programme in Minnesota State that saved $350 million per annum in its first wave. Steve visited Dublin in April 2010 and discussed the transformation programme with David Hearn, head of Deloitte Consulting in Ireland.
In this video, you can watch him discuss his Minnesota experience and the lessons it can provide for a similar programme in the Irish public sector context.
The discussion covers such as issues as:
- The background that gave rise to the need for a major transformation programme in Minnesota State
- How Minnesota overcame the problem of a lack of funding to invest in major transformation in the face of pay, recruitment and supplier cuts and low employee morale
- How Minnesota organised itself to execute the transformation programme
- The key impacts and results for the State of Minnesota five years later
