Audit Partner
Philip is a partner in our Audit Services Practice specialising in the Technology, Media & Telecommunications sector. Philip has responsibility for the delivery of professional services to a broad range of the firm’s national and multinational clients.
As well as being one of our Audit Services Partners, he is also Chief Information Officer (CIO) within Deloitte Ireland. He is also a member of the Deloitte Global CIO Council and is regional leader in EMEA on behalf of the CIO Council.
Philip qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1980 and has been a partner since 1982. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland and is a member of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association.

Susan specialises in a number of areas within the audit department, with a particular emphasis on Sarbanes–Oxley and clients within the Consumer Business industry. She has worked with Deloitte internationally for 20 years having spent time with the firm both in her native South Africa and in the US. She joined Deloitte in Ireland in 2002.
Susan is a member of the Institutes of Chartered Accountants, in both South Africa and Ireland.
Tax Partner
Pascal specialises in Indirect Tax. He has over 25 years experience in the field of taxation having worked for 16 years with the Revenue Commissioners before moving to private practice. His main focus is providing value added solutions for parties faced with complex indirect tax issues. In this regard Pascal provides indirect tax advice in the field of international VAT to many of the leading players in the telecommunications and internet sector and also advises widely in the notoriously difficult field of Irish VAT on immovable property encompassing some of the most high profile infrastructural projects in the country in the last number of years.
In addition to client work he provides support in the area of VAT, Customs and other indirect taxes to other professional practices and second opinions on tax exposures arising out of Revenue Audits. He has significant and very successful experience in the field of litigation associated with the tax appeals process and a wealth of knowledge in European and domestic VAT legislation and case law.

Declan Butler is a tax partner specialising in international tax, with a focus on US and European inward investment into Ireland and in structured finance and financial services. He currently advises a wide range of multinationals in the healthcare, high technology and financial services industries.
Corporate Finance Partner
David Carson is the partner leading the Reorganisation Services team in Deloitte, in Ireland. David has worked for Deloitte for over 20 years and has extensive experience in corporate restructurings, including formal insolvency proceedings and informal reorganisations. He has specific expertise in performing capital efficiency reviews and providing cash management advice to Irish corporates, both healthy and stressed.
Most recently David has acted as Examiner to fashion retailer, Sasha, and to convenience food manufacturer, SwissCo.
David has a background in corporate finance and was partner in charge of M&A Transaction Services for a number of years. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland, is an Honours Law Graduate from The Queen's University, Belfast and holds a professional diploma in accounting from DCU.

Tom is a partner in the Audit & Advisory Practice and leads the delivery of audit and assurance services to SMEs from the Dublin office. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1982 and has been a partner since 1993. He has extensive audit and business advisory service experience in serving a broad range of large national and international clients. He is familiar with US GAAP/Irish GAAP reporting reconciliations and has extensive experience in serving high growth companies.
Tom has served on technical committees and has been involved in lecturing, recruiting and training.
Tom is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland and a graduate of University College Dublin.
National Tax Partner
Pádraig Cronin joined the firm in 1993, becoming a Partner in 1998. In 2007 Pádraig was appointed National Tax Partner.
Pádraig has over 20 years' tax experience advising on a wide range of tax issues, including structuring of Irish operations for MNCs, foreign acquisition & disposal planning and mobile income planning. He is an expert in the areas of international tax, group reorganisations/joint ventures, private client advisory and outward investment by domestic groups.
Pádraig is an associate of the Irish Taxation Institute and is a Chartered Accountant. He was named in the list of top tax advisors in Ireland in the most recent International Tax Review Survey. Pádraig has written various articles for the Irish Taxation Review and the International Tax Review.

Pat is a tax partner and co-ordinates the firm’s tax services to mid-market and large private companies. Pat has more than twenty-five years experience with the firm and served as Managing Partner for four years and prior to that led the National Tax Practice for eight years.
Pat has wide experience of taxation consultancy specialising in outbound and inbound investments into Ireland, with particular expertise in the insurance sector and advising family owned businesses.
Pat is a Fellow of both Chartered Accountants Ireland and the Irish Taxation Institute and is a former President of the Irish Taxation Institute in Ireland.
Consulting Partner, Financial Services
David is the lead partner in our Financial Services consulting practice. He is a former Managing Director of Curach Consulting and has over 25 years of strategy and IT consulting experience with both Irish and international financial institutions.
His experience includes customer and market strategy, channel strategy , business and operating model design and transformational change.
An Engineering graduate of Trinity College Dublin, David has previously worked with Accenture and headed its Strategic Service division in Ireland. David was also the founder and CEO of HotOrigin Limited, a specialist investment and consulting firm.

David is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland and a member of the Irish Taxation Institute, the Insolvency Practitioners Association and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
He has been a partner in the firm for 25 years and has extensive experience in advising substantial domestic clients, both privately owned and publicly held, particularly in the area of strategy. He also handles a varied audit portfolio.
David has served on the technical committees of a number of professional bodies and is currently a member of a global Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu research working party.
Tax Partner
Aidan is a tax partner in our Dublin office specialising in VAT. He heads up our indirect tax practice comprising a team of over twenty professionals specialising solely in indirect taxes. He has nearly twenty five years experience in VAT having worked for the Revenue Commissioners as a VAT inspector until 1992 when he joined Deloitte.
Aidan’s focus is on reducing the indirect tax costs of doing business. He has designed and assisted in the implementation of cost saving strategies across a wide range of business sectors involving both the maximisation of VAT recovery and VAT rate reduction. He also has extensive experience in advising in relation to large-scale production plants and facilities and on supply chain type arrangements such as toll manufacturing, stripped distributors and commissionaires.
Over the years Aidan has lobbied on behalf of various industry sectors for favourable changes in VAT law and practice and recently was successful in cooperation with practitioners from other firms in clarifying the VAT treatment of funds and the securitisation sector. He is currently part of a working group which is examining the proposed changes in EU law in respect of VAT on cross border services from an industry perspective.

Gerry has been with the firm for 25 years. He is a commerce graduate of University College Dublin and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland.
Gerry is Head of our Audit department and has wide ranging experience in risk, accounting, audit, insolvency and investigation services. Gerry has worked for Deloitte in our Dublin and London offices. Present clients include public bodies, publicly quoted companies, large companies and licensed banks.

Alan specialises in the provision of advisory services in the areas of restructuring advice, insolvency, business reviews, financial management and business planning. His experience includes the leadership of a large range of projects working with a variety of clients across industry sectors including consumer business, retail leisure and hospitality and real estate and infrastructure.
Alan is an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, a member of the Irish Society of Insolvency Practitioners and a Charter Management Consultant.
Corporate Finance Partner
Michael is a Partner in our Corporate Finance group and leads the Specialised Finance group in Ireland – Government & Infrastructure, Debt Advisory, Financial Modelling and Project Finance.
He advises the public, private and banking sectors on Public Private Partnerships (PPP), Project Finance and public sector related transactions across a variety of sectors including justice, transport, health, education, housing, waste and energy. Michael also advises on complex financial modelling development and review assignments. As a member of the Deloitte Global PPP Community, he is currently assisting local Deloitte offices on infrastructure projects in Central Europe and North America.
Michael also has experience in mergers, acquisitions, disposals and capital raising (debt and equity) across a number of sectors. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland. He was also awarded a masters diploma in corporate finance from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

Brian is a Partner in our Financial Services Audit team. His primary expertise is in the delivery of audit and advisory services to clients in the investment management industry. Brian has over 18 years experience in the area and has worked in three key investment management jurisdictions, namely Ireland, the Channel Islands and Grand Cayman. Brian also has led a number of risk and operational reviews across the sector and has extensive experience of due diligence projects for large transactions.
Brian is a chartered accountant and has a MA in Accountancy from the University of Aberdeen, and is a member of the Alternative Investments Committee of the Irish Funds Industry Association.
Audit Partner - Financial Services
Mary Fulton is the partner leading our financial services audit group. Mary trained with Deloitte in Belfast and spent a number of years with the firm in London before returning to Ireland in 1991, becoming a partner in 1997. She is a chartered accountant and has a a degree in economics and accounting from the University of Sheffield in England.
Mary is a financial services expert working with clients in banking, treasury, insurance and reinsurance. Her experience includes a range of Irish and international financial institutions including many of the biggest names in global financial services. She leads our audit services to a number of major clients in Ireland and delivers other services such as agreed upon procedures reports, control reviews, investigations, implementation of IFRS, compliance assistance and advice on regulatory matters. The development of services to the securitisation sector has been a particular focus and a strongly developing area.

Niall Glynn is a partner in the Private Business tax division specialising in wealth management and asset protection, capital taxes, domestic corporate reorganisations and shareholder issues. He advises a wide range of incorporated and unincorporated domestic businesses, high net worth individuals and associated investment vehicles such as family trusts and partnerships.
Niall also advises on investment and asset holding structures, succession planning and executive share schemes.
Niall holds a law degree, a postgraduate diploma in business studies and a diploma in financial services law from University College Dublin. He is a qualified solicitor and member of the Law Society of Ireland. He is also an associate member of the Irish Taxation Institute and a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.

Harry joined Deloitte as a partner in 2007 from BearingPoint, bringing more then fifteen years experience.
At Deloitte he is responsible for the Technology Integration practice, supporting clients in their technology initiatives.

As a Tax Partner Lorraine advises a broad range of the firm's national and international clients across a wide range of industry sectors, with a particular focus on life sciences, technology, media and telecommunications, retail and manufacturing. She is a specialist in International Tax, advising multinationals on investing into Ireland and domestic groups on outward investments, and has significant expertise in the area of corporate restructurings and mergers & acquisitions. Lorraine is a key member of the firm’s multidisciplinary life sciences team, as well as the firm’s M&A team from a tax viewpoint.
Lorraine is a law graduate of University College Cork, a Chartered Accountant, and an Associate and current Council Member of the Irish Taxation Institute.

Mike leads our multi disciplinary investment management team which provides audit and assurance, tax, consulting and regulatory advise to all aspects of the investment management industry. Mike's area of expertise is serving the investment management industry, with particular focus on alternative investment funds and mutual funds. Mike has also assisted a number of international financial institutions on a number of special assignments including, accounting investigations, risk reviews and regulatory compliance reviews.
Mike currently serves on the council of the Irish Funds Industry Association along with representing the firm at the Dublin meetings of the Alternative Investment Managers Association.
Mike has also assisted a number of international financial institutions undertake forensic accounting investigations and risk reviews.
After completing his training with Deloitte in Australia in 1995, Mike moved to Dublin and has since worked in our financial services group. Mike holds a commerce degree from the University of Queensland and is a member of both the institute of chartered accountants in England and Wales and the institute of chartered accountants in Australia.

David Hearn leads our Management Consulting practice in Ireland. He graduated with a Master’s Degree in Engineering and is a member of the Institute of Engineers of Ireland and is a chartered management consultant.
David has extensive experience in the public sector and private sector. He has worked with manufacturing, distribution, retailing, health, and mining/extractive industries, as well as government departments, semi-state companies and public sector bodies. He has led major strategy, organisational change and information technology projects.
Richard Howard

Richard is a partner in our audit practice and is a member of our Technology, Media and Telecommunications industry group. Richard works with both Irish indigenous companies and MNCs as well as working with a range of clients in the consumer business and utilities sectors.
He has experience of accounting under various accounting standards including IFRS and US GAAP as well as having extensive experience of accounting for group reorganisations, mergers and acquisitions including cross border mergers and US and Irish & UK reporting accountant requirements.
Richard holds a B.Comm International (German) and a Masters in Accounting from University College Dublin. He is also a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland and has written a number of publications on IFRS, US GAAP and accounting issues affecting technology companies in Ireland.

Cormac is the human resources partner in our Dublin office. He also leads our Strategy and Operations and Human Capital consulting services. He joined Deloitte in 1996 having previously worked for Guinness plc. He advises corporate clients across Industry Sectors with a particular focus on the Manufacturing and Services sectors.
Tax Partner
Conor is a Partner in the taxation department with more than fifteen years experience advising financial services and international clients on Irish and international taxation issues arising from the location of operations in Ireland and optimising the use of Ireland’s low corporate tax rate. He is also responsible for managing and coordinating the provision of tax services to Irish subsidiaries of multinationals and domestic companies. Conor has spoken at international tax conferences on inbound investment into Ireland and tax planning in Ireland. Conor has written a number of articles on the taxation of financial services companies in Ireland.

Managing Partner
Brendan is Managing Partner for Deloitte in Ireland and has been a partner with the firm since 1993.
Prior to assuming his present position Brendan was National Partner in charge of Audit Services for the Irish firm with responsibility for the provision of professional services to a broad range of national and multinational clients. Brendan also headed up the Consumer Business Industry Group.
Brendan has served on the Executive Board of the firm since 2002 and is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland.

Marguerite is the clients and markets partner in our Dublin office. Prior to this she was an audit partner and was responsible for the provision of professional services to a broad range of the firm’s major national and international clients, particularly in the TMT and Consumer Business sectors. Marguerite currently serves on the Accounting Standards Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and sits on an advisory panel to the Company Law Review Group.

Gerard is regional partner in charge, which includes both the Cork and Limerick office. He is an audit partner and he also leads the Enterprise Risk Services department. He is highly experienced in providing services to both the public and private sectors. Gerard is also the lead for the higher education team within Deloitte.

John is a financial services partner responsible for the continued development and growth of the firm’s financial services practice in the areas of audit, assurance, accounting, valuations and treasury support.
He has over 15 years experience in financial services audit and advisory work. Specific areas of specialism include banking and corporate treasury. John’s banking experience includes the audit of large Irish banks as well as IFSC resident international banks. He also has significant international banking experience having previously worked in Brussels and Bermuda. His corporate treasury experience was developed through working with large Irish and European companies on treasury benchmarking, process and control reviews, cash management, and IFRS conversions.
His current areas of focus include banking advisory work related to the current crisis and supporting corporate clients to develop strong treasury and cash management processes which are a key area in the current economic environment.
John holds a BA Degree in Accounting from the University of Kent and a Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting from Queens University, Belfast. He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ireland.

Brian holds a Bachelor degree in Commerce from University College Dublin, a Chartered Accountant, and a member of the Institute of Taxation in Ireland. He has been a tax partner for over 25 years having joined a predecessor firm in 1981.
Brian has extensive experience of advising individuals and companies on Irish personal and corporate tax issues involved in doing business in Ireland. His principal areas of expertise include tax planning for equity awards, cross-border employment arrangements and tax efficient employment arrangements.

Colm is a Partner in the Deloitte Audit Enterprise Risk Services (ERS) division. Colm has been with Deloitte for over 19 years and in this time he has gained invaluable insight and knowledge across all business sectors. Colm and his team support clients in risk management, information and technology risk, regulatory compliance and internal audit through business process and technology specialism. Colm is the Treasurer of the Dublin Chamber of Commerce and he is also a Council member.

In recent years, Ronan has specialised in the financial services sector. Ronan is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ireland (ICAI) and has a Bachelor of Science degree from University College Dublin. Chris O’Connell joined the firm as a partner in its Corporate Finance department in January 2012. Chris is responsible for the firm’s mergers and acquisitions service offering, working, in particular, with public companies and large corporates.
Chris brings over 20 years of corporate finance and advisory experience. Most recently, he was CEO and Chairman of Elkstone Capital, an international advisory and private equity business. Prior to that, Chris worked exclusively for a major real estate development group with operations in Ireland, UK, France and the USA, and was responsible for the structuring and financing of many diverse projects.
A former Director of IBI Corporate Finance, Chris was responsible for many high profile mergers, acquisitions and financings in the Irish corporate market during his tenure. Prior to his time with IBI, Chris worked with Kleinwort Benson in London and Frankfurt, where he was instrumental in establishing Kleinwort’s investment banking franchise.
Head of the TMTE Group
Joan is the Irish firm’s head of the TMTE Group. She is also an international tax partner with over 25 years experience, in Dublin and London, advising Irish domestic public and private companies and inbound multinational clients.
Joan is a past president of the Irish Taxation Institute for 2007/2008 and a current member of the taxation committee of the American Chamber in Ireland and the Irish Institute of European Affairs. She is a regular author for Irish Tax Review, International Tax Review magazine and its publications and BNA publications. She has been listed as a top advisor in the Irish marketplace in various sectors, including transfer pricing.

Dan leads the tax practice in our Limerick office. He is a graduate of University College Cork, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and an Associate of the Irish Taxation Institute.
He has over 20 years experience in providing specialist corporate tax advice to a range of clients in the IT, manufacturing, distribution and retail sectors. Present clients include the Irish operations of many MNCs and large indigenous groups.
He has particular expertise in group restructurings, use of Ireland to maximise the benefit of its low corporate tax rate and the tax issues associated with property related transactions.

David O’Flanagan is a Partner in Deloitte Corporate Finance and leads its Corporate Finance Advisory practice, incorporating its M&A, capital raising, debt advisory and valuations practice. He joined Deloitte in 1986 from Robson Rhodes in London and has over twenty-five years experience advising on corporate finance matters for major corporate and private equity clients, involving equity capital raising, acquisitions, disposals, debt raising and restructuring, PPP and project finance engagements, both in Ireland and internationally.
David has advised on M&A and capital raising transactions involving a broad range of clients across multiple sectors, and has significant experience in providing debt advisory and valuation services to clients.

John has over 20 year’s tax experience working with Arthur Anderson in Dublin and Deloitte in Cork who he joined in 1988.

Deirdre Power is a tax partner specialising in financial services. She has more than ten years experience in advising financial services clients in the areas of investment management and funds, leasing, banking, securitisation and structured finance. She was previously chair of the Irish Funds Industry Association (IFIA) and is also a current member of the IFIA tax committee.
She has worked with the Revenue Authorities on introducing various aspects of financial services tax legislation. She is also part of the banking and treasury tax group as well as being appointed to the Taoiseach’s Pan European Pensions taskforce.
Deirdre currently advises a wide variety of international companies and regularly contributes articles to international tax and financial services industry focused publications. She has also presented at numerous funds and securitisation conferences. She is a qualified Chartered Accountant.

Paul is an International Tax Partner with a particular involvement in the financial services sector. He has served many global clients in the banking, insurance and capital markets sectors and is a member of the Banking & Treasury Group set up by the Irish Taoiseach (Prime Minister) to advise on the development of the financial services sector in Ireland.
In 2007, Paul relocated to the US where he has set up an Irish desk in our New York office giving clients access to international tax specialists from outside the US, who understand the issues relevant to US business. Paul is also a former secretary to the Commission on Taxation, a review body established to consider taxation policy. A co-author of the annual publication 'Taxation Summary', Paul has spoken and written on many international tax topics.

Martin Reilly is an audit partner specialising in the provision of assurance and advisory services to clients in the banking and securities sector. Martin’s main area of expertise is the banking and securities industry, with a particular focus on regulation, capital management and financial instrument accounting.
Martin has been with the firm for 15 years and has worked with a number of large Irish and International Banks on both audit and advisory assignments. The advisory work includes providing advice on risk, regulatory and governance matters across a range of financial institutions including banks, building societies, stockbrokers and credit unions.
Martin holds a BA in Accounting and Finance and an MBS in Accounting from Dublin City University. Martin is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland.
Head of the Consumer Business Group
Kevin is Head of the Consumer Business Group, prior to this he was an audit partner in the Consumer Business group in Dublin. Kevin has more than fifteen years audit and advisory experience in a variety of industries including products manufacturing, retail & distribution and bloodstock. Kevin also serves a number of large property development and construction groups. In addition, Kevin specialises in the provision of audit and transaction support services to a number of listed natural resource and exploration groups. Kevin also leads the firms Best Managed Companies programme.
Tax Partner, Business Tax
Mike is a Partner in the Corporate Tax department in our Regional Practice, based primarily in the Cork office.
He has extensive experience in advising both multinationals and indigenous Irish companies, across a broad range of issues. His main areas of expertise are in Inbound investment, restructurings, acquisitions / disposals and the property sector
Mike holds a commerce degree from University College Cork, is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland (ACA) and a member of the Irish Taxation Institute (AITI), and has lectured extensively.
Audit Partner
Cathal is an audit partner based in our Limerick office and has been with the firm for eight years. Cathal is responsible for a number of significant Irish and multi-national clients in the region covering both the Consumer Business and Technology sectors.
Cathal is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland and is an alumnus of the University of Limerick. He is a member of both the Limerick and Galway Chambers of Commerce.
Audit Partner
Niall is an audit partner who also specialises in Professional Issues, Regulatory Issues and Compliance. Niall is a Chartered Accountant who joined the firm in 1987 working in Audit and Enterprise Risk Services in both Ireland and the USA.
Niall currently splits his time between working in Ireland and working as Deputy Director of Global Audit Services with Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu. Niall is also the current chairman of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland’s Audit and Assurance Committee and the CCAB-I nominee to the Pensions Board.
Tax Partner
Joanne Whelan is a Partner specialising in Capital Tax and Estate Planning.
She has over 10 years experience advising private clients on estate planning related issues arising on the transfer of wealth to the next generation by way of gift/inheritance. Joanne also advises trustees of family trusts, both domestic and international, on issues arising in respect of dealing with trust property.
Joanne has extensive experience in advising on stamp duty issues in respect of transactions involving corporate and private clients.
Joanne also leads the Corporate and Legal Services department which provides a wide range of services to both public and private companies, including corporate formations and compliance, business name protection, corporate governance, alternative dispute resolution and employment law.
She is a practising solicitor, a member of the Law Society of Ireland, a member of the Irish branch of STEP and an associate of the Irish Taxation Institute.
Joanne has lectured extensively on capital tax and estate planning matters and has contributed to a number of professional publications. Joanne currently sits on the committee of the Irish branch of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.
Corporate Tax Partner
Padraic is a partner in the Deloitte Corporate tax practice and has over 20 years experience in practice, advising on both domestic and international tax transactions. Padraic is a graduate of University College Galway, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and an Associate of the Institute of Taxation in Ireland.
Padraic leads the Real Estate & Infrastructure Group in Deloitte and has a particular focus on advising Property Developers and Investors.
He provides advice to a broad range of both domestic and international clients. The scope of advice involves tax planning, consultancy assignments and structuring transactions to ensure minimisation of taxation.
