Deloitte Ireland wins ‘Best Use of the Internet’ Award at European Tax Awards

Deloitte Ireland has won the ‘Best Use of the Internet’ award at the International Tax Review Annual European Awards, which were announced in London on May 18th. Deloitte in Poland and Portugal were recognised alongside the Irish firm in this category.

Commenting on the win, Irene O’Gorman, Director of Marketing and Business Development at Deloitte Ireland said: “We are delighted to be recognised with this award. There were a number of significant developments in Ireland with regard to taxation in the last year and it was important that we communicated as quickly and concisely as possible with our clients on what these changes meant for them. We made a concerted effort to leverage the full array of options that the internet offers as part of our integrated communications plan. This is a great tribute and well deserved accolade for the marketing and tax teams who were involved in these projects.”

In addition to the Budget and Finance Bill, which were extremely significant against the current economic backdrop in Ireland, Deloitte also used the internet to disseminate the information contained in the Commission on Taxation’s report on change in the Irish tax system. The team at Deloitte used many internet tools in their outreach to clients including social networking sites such as Twitter and LinkedIn, podcasts, webinars and email marketing. A particular emphasis was placed on the quality of content on, and the look of, the Deloitte Ireland tax website. The firm also produced a series of tax videos and launched a webinar series, both of which were very successful in increasing the firm’s contact with international clients.

The European Tax Awards 2010 are presented to the firms that demonstrate examples of the most innovative client work in Europe between February 2009 and February 2010.
