On 30 August 2013, Deloitte held its annual SEA Impact Day, carrying on the same theme as before, “Youth and Education”. Deloitte Indonesia proudly conducted its Impact Day with great success under the banner of DeloitteSHINES in collaboration with the World Harvest organization.
At a junior high school (SMP Wahana Harapan) located in Tangerang (suburb of Jakarta), Deloitte Indonesia constructed the school library, provide all the library equipment and donated books through “1000 books movement” campaign and also undertook other various activities with the children studying at the junior high school and its sister elementary school.
Aside from constructing the library, and with around 150 students and 200 volunteers from among partners and staff of Deloitte Indonesia, we ran other exciting activities such as a short motivational seminar, planted trees and flowers, painting, dig biopore water infiltration pits and also an educational game together with the children. Not just that, in cooperation with medical and dental experts, we provided free dental services, general check-ups, and free medicines for the children.
On the D-day, opening remarks were made both by our Country Leader, Danilo Alcantara, and by World Harvest organisation’s Director, Daniel Runtuwene. After these opening remarks, our volunteers and children completed all the activities with full enthusiasm and lots of excitements. Ellisa Tanara, our Practice Management Leader, gave a short speech to close the program, which was immediately followed by the treasure box distribution – a unique trademark of DeloitteSHINES.
Overall, both the children and Deloitte people looked very happy spending time and sharing joy and happiness during the event and as everybody went home. All the sweat, sunburn and fatigue was worth it and all of us hope that in the future we continue to share with society.
