Focus on sustainabilityCompanies may enter the competition for Deloitte's sustainability award until the end of October |
Budapest, 26 July 2012 – After last year's reforms, Deloitte Hungary announces this year's edition of its annual Green Frog Award which looks back on a history of over a decade. Any company registered in a Central European country has the opportunity to compete for the award, irrespective of its business sector or the number of employees.
Róbert Reiniger, Director at Deloitte Hungary`s Environmental Risk Services, explained: Similarly to last year, the focus will again be on sustainability. We hope that the award will play a significant role in ensuring that the annual reporting practice of companies in the region is not limited solely to presenting the financial implications of the companies' business.
The award will go to the company which prepares the best annual sustainability report (or corporate social responsibility report) in the given year in Central Europe. Similarly to last year, there will be two key assessment criteria: one area of focus is the detail and accuracy of the information published and the other is the comparability of the report, i.e. whether the company puts the relevant information into context. The main criteria considered by the panel when selecting the winner will be the reporting principles and content requirements prescribed by the GRI (Global Reporting Initiative). GRI in itself is naturally no guarantee, only a useful tool for the preparation of an "appropriate" sustainability report which helps assess and compare the impacts of companies irrespective of the sector in which they operate.
Selecting the best reports
Róbert Reiniger added: The composition of the panel of judges and the evaluation criteria will reflect the changes introduced in 2011. The panel of judges will consist of Deloitte Hungary`s environmental specialists who are all committed to the issues of sustainability and corporate social responsibility and to addressing these issues. The panel will evaluate applications prepared in English. Should a company's sustainability performance be presented as part of its annual report, the judges will only consider sections of the report that are relevant.
