The Alma Mater concert series at the Music Academy |
Budapest is home to a number of classical music concerts, yet for us the Alma Mater concerts of the Music Academy are something special. Not only because we are convinced that the institution is one of the icons of the Hungarian culture, but also because we like how rector András Batta leads up the event, and allows us to understand the composer's age, career and his fortunate/unfortunate private life at the time of composing. The reason why it touches us as well is the intimate devotion of the performing Alumni towards their former school, the stage-fright of today's students - that it's not just a concert, it is a report and a salutation on every occasion.
