Enhancing Corporate Governance
Recent events have motivated new laws and regulations to be issued to improve corporate governance and oversight. The specific initiatives currently underway within the European Union include:
- The use of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) in the preparation of financial statements for all listed companies in 2005
- Increased focus on management responsibility and corporate governance
- Public oversight of the accounting profession with strong participation from outside of the profession.
At Deloitte, we believe these initiatives align with our firm’s strengths, integrity, tradition of excellence, and record of quality, and represent competitive advantages for us in the marketplace. Our goal is to help our clients manage successfully the entry into the new IFRS world while being recognized as the leading quality and independent professional services provider.
