In July 2007 Deloitte in Croatia became a member of the UN Global Compact, an initiative for improving ethical and environmental standards in business community around the globe. The Global Compact is a framework for businesses that are committed to aligning their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labor, the environment and anti-corruption. As the world’s largest, global corporate citizenship initiative, the Global Compact is first and foremost concerned with exhibiting and building the social legitimacy of business and markets.
Deloitte has organized several internal actions in the area of environmental protection and gender equality, as a part of its Global Compact activities. In December 2007, Deloitte joined the humanitarian action, initiated by UN office in Croatia. In March 2008, Deloitte answered positively to call by the chairman of the foundation for Global Compact, helping with its donation the further financing of GC activities.
