Dimethylfumarate will be added to Annex XVII of the REACH Regulation

As of 5 June 2012 dimethylfumarate (hereafter DMF) will be added to the banned products under the REACH regulation.  The REACH regulation (EC 1907/2006), which is effective since 2006, is a regulation for the protection of the human health and environment. DMF is a biocide that prevents moulds that may deteriorate leather furniture or footwear during transport and storage in a humid climate.  Mostly you will find DMF in little pouches fixed inside furniture or added to footwear boxes.  DMF causes damage when it comes in contact with consumers skin or can cause acute respiratory troubles.
