Meet Carl AllegrettiDeloitte Tax LLP Chairman and CEO |
Carl Allegretti is the Deloitte Tax LLP (“Deloitte Tax”) chairman and chief executive officer (CEO), and serves as a member of the Deloitte LLP Executive Committee, Deloitte LLP Operating Committee, and the Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited Global Tax Executive Committee. His client activities include serving as advisory partner for several of the Deloitte U.S. Firms’ largest clients.
As chairman and CEO of Deloitte Tax, Carl collaborates with his leadership team to guide the U.S. tax practice towards operational excellence from a strategic, client, talent, and quality perspective. This includes a constant focus on anticipating market changes; understanding client needs; innovating high-value quality products and services; and attracting, developing, and retaining a talented diverse group of practice professionals.
In his previous role as global and U.S. Tax Chief Clients & Markets officer, Carl positioned Deloitte to deliver differentiated value to clients. He championed strategic programs and led the development of a business issue trends approach to the market. Carl also led efforts to deliver all of Deloitte to every client, providing seamless support across Deloitte member firms and global geographies.
Carl has also served as the Midwest regional tax managing partner (RTMP). As RTMP, Carl helped Deloitte's Midwest tax practice emerge as the largest in the region, holding the No. 1 market positions in Illinois, Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, and Wisconsin. With the support of his diverse leadership team, the Midwest practice experienced record growth throughout his time as RTMP.
Carl is also a former member and vice chairman of the U.S. Board of Directors for Deloitte LLP.
In addition to his leadership within Deloitte, Carl has distinguished himself as a leader within the Chicago business community and has been named to the prestigious Crain’s Chicago Business list of “Who’s Who In Chicago Business” for the past six years.
Carl is active with numerous professional and civic organizations. He is currently the treasurer of Project Torch and sits on the board of the Chicago Boys & Girls Club. He is the former treasurer of the Chicago Public Library Foundation, the former chairman of the Illinois Special Olympics, and a former board member of United Cerebral Palsy. He is also active in Deloitte’s Community Involvement initiatives, having served as the 2006 Deloitte IMPACT Day Midwest Leadership Partner. He is a member of the Economic Club of Chicago, the Illinois Certified Public Accountants Society, and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Carl’s other outside affiliations are reflective of his commitment to youth, family, and athletics. He is the former president and founder of the Frankfort Youth Athletic Association, an organization whose goal is to develop a strong foundation in the fundamentals of athletics and foster the importance of good sportsmanship, a positive attitude, and respect for all participants. Carl also served for four years as the treasurer of the Frankfort Boys Baseball League. His unwavering support of his sons’ athletic endeavors was recently noticed by the Illinois Fatherhood Initiative (IFI), who recognized him as one of the 2006 IFI/Ricky Birdsong award finalists in honor of men who are good fathers and who have made a difference in the lives of youth.
An avid athlete and former collegiate football player, Carl regularly organizes members of the Deloitte Midwest Tax team to participate in running events in the Chicago area, and he has successfully completed more than 60 marathons and two ultra marathons. In April 2011, he received the inaugural Mayor Richard M. and Maggie Daley Award as the top fund-raiser at the 2010 Bank of America Chicago Marathon.
Prior to Deloitte, Carl spent nearly 20 years at another large accounting firm. During that time, he led the Chicago office middle market tax practice and the federal business tax practice for Chicago and Indianapolis, and also served as the co-leader of the tax practice private equity group.
Carl received his Bachelor’s of Science from Butler University in Indiana.
