Andrew Dunn is the member firm tax leader for Deloitte Canada, and previously a member of the Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited (DTTL) Financial Services Tax Strategy team. The International Tax Review recently recognized Andrew as one of Canada's leading tax advisers.
Andrew leads Deloitte Canada's involvement with Canadian-based private equity funds, where he plays a key role helping these groups structure how they raise capital, buy and sell their investments, and allocate the return to the principals and their investors.
Largely driven by his role with private equity, Andrew has extensive experience designing and implementing income trusts, often as initial public offerings, and has worked on dozens of income trust transactions, from acquisitions by trusts to take private transactions.
Andrew has also been a key designer of innovative public asset management vehicles, using mutual fund trusts and mutual fund corporations. Many of his designs of multi-class structures, character conversions, and "Canadian property" vehicles have been used extensively.
