Focus on renewable energy has led to high growth investments in wind and solar assets. Identifying the structure of the assets held by wind and solar farm developers is key to grasping the value of such assets. This paper addresses how and why multiple regression analysis is a good valuation tool for wind assets. Additionally, we share our findings based on similar analysis of solar assets which concludes that installed capacity, capacity under construction and capacity in late stage affects transaction prices significantly. We have concluded that investors in wind assets do not assign any significant value to capacity in early stages, possibly skewing valuations.
