I am motivated to find new insights into the most complex issues that can be used for a competitive advantage. Deloitte’s focus on analytics – which has continually increased during my 21 years with the organization – affords me the opportunity and resources to discover those insights.
Currently, I am the National Service Line Leader for our Actuarial, Risk and Analytics service line in the U.S., where we perform most of our Advanced Analytics services. I also assist the U.S. Analytics effort by co-leading the Solutions thread of the Deloitte Analytics Institute and I’m playing a leading role in starting up our new Subscription Analytics delivery model.
I have served clients across many industries but my primary focus over the years has been the Financial Services industry. For the past eight years, I have been the Lead Client and Consulting Partner at one of Deloitte US’s major insurance clients and I’m constantly engaged in their issues. It has always seemed natural to be deeply steeped in the issues and challenges that our clients face on a daily basis.
My most memorable project was leading a cross-functional team working with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey after the terrorist attacks of 11 September 2001. The project involved helping to stabilize their financial situation by maximizing recoveries from insurance policies and other sources. The Port Authority was under great duress, the challenge we faced had never occurred before, and there were new issues every day that needed to be addressed. In addition to the work being compelling and gratifying, it was also very well-received. I was awarded the James G. Hellmuth Unit Citation by the Port Authority of NY & NJ in recognition of my valuable contribution to the World Trade Center Loss Recovery Team. As a result of the team’s efforts, the Port Authority recovered almost US$1.4 Billion.
