PeterDirector, Analytic & Forensic Technology, United Kingdom |
I am very fortunate to have the opportunity to work with innovative technology. Deloitte Analytics has just introduced a new document review system in Forensic Technology that has some of the most advanced text analytics functionality. This functionality will save clients substantial sums of money and let them get to important and relevant data more quickly. Not many jobs would give you the chance to work with technology of this nature.
I began my career with Deloitte UK in 1998 in the newly formed Forensic Technology practice, after honing my IT skills in previous positions. In my current role, I lead the Electronic Discovery team in the Forensic technology practice in Deloitte UK. The team helps clients through the process of scoping, collecting, processing and reviewing large volumes of electronic data. The purpose of these reviews usually involves an investigation by regulators or a piece of litigation. We are also heavily involved in fraud investigations, intellectual property theft and the investigation of network intrusions or hacking.
In addition to the e-discovery services, my team also helps clients that are regularly dealing with regulatory matters to develop operating models that enable them to more efficiently respond to information requests. Some of our clients get hundreds of requests every year.
A number of years ago, I worked on a significant project in Europe that had historic ramifications. It involved data analysis at a number of banks to identify evidence of whether the banks had retained assets deposited by holocaust victims during World War II. It was a rewarding experience for me to be able to use my technical skills to play a role in returning these assets to the families of the victims.
The Deloitte name stands out in the marketplace because skilled analytics practitioners work together across the global network of Deloitte firms in a cohesive fashion. I have learned so much and have expanded my professional network from being involved in Deloitte Analytics.
When I joined Deloitte I never expected to still be here fourteen years later. The main reason for my long tenure is the quality of the people with whom I work.
