IFRS e-learning downloads pass 1m mark |
One million. 1,000,000. 1m. Any way you look at it, one million is a lofty number. It is also the number of e-learning modules on International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) that have been downloaded from IASPlus.
As many countries begin adopting the IFRS standards as their primary financial reporting framework, fnance professionals around the world have been faced with the challenge of building their skills and knowledge in this area. A Deloitte team originally developed the IFRS e-learning modules for internal use only, but they soon realized that the modules would be valuable to a wider audience. Since 2004 the modules have been publicly available without charge on the IASPlus Web site. In January 2007, the number of downloads surpassed one million.
The content uses an innovative instructional design that presents realistic workplace-based scenarios where the learner is likely to encounter application of the IFRS standards. Learners are required to complete tasks and answer questions to progress. A range of resources and reference material is available to assist them.
Who has downloaded the modules? A variety of organizations and individuals, including all of Deloitte member firms' major competitors, accounting bodies and regulators, educational establishments and many of the world's leading companies. Many of these organizations have chosen Deloitte's materials to be their primary source of learning about IFRS.
