Focus: COP 17The essence of time |
The journey to a sustainable future is now part of many companies' strategic thinking. Indeed, climate change is a global issue, no longer the sole domain of the environmentally conscious.
Therefore, collaboration will be key at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Conference / Meeting of the Parties - COP17/MOP7 - the only global negotiations aimed at achieving global reductions in Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions.
The outlook for the meeting, taking place at the end of November in Durban, South Africa, has left many uncertain as to the way forward. With the first commitment period of the Kyoto Protocol expiring at the end of 2012, many observers believe a consensus at COP17 is needed to keep the Kyoto Protocol’s goals alive.
The Deloitte Sustainability & Climate Change team compiled a summary of predictions for COP 17, that looks at both the impact of the negotiations on business and possible outcomes. Download that report below and explore additional Sustainability & Climate Change resources on this page.
