Being the dominant operating system provider in the emerging non-PC market would be a tremendous prize for a company. But Deloitte predicts that no single player will become the de facto standard in 2011. In addition, more than half of the computers sold next year will be non-PCs, such as smartphones and tablet computers.

Highlights:

  • What sort of "non-PC" devices does this prediction examine?
  • Why does Deloitte predict that in 2011 no operating system on non-PC computing devices will have more than 50 percent market share?
  • Is there one system that will eventually emerge as the de facto standard?
