Mergers & Acquisitions in the Global Financial Services Industry
Charting a course through choppy waters
Charting a course through choppy waters: Mergers and Acquisitions in the Global Financial Services Industry, provides a perspective on what separates effective and ineffective deal making approaches.
The study builds upon lessons the results of a 2007 survey by Deloitte Research in cooperation with the Economist Intelligence Unit. Conducted at a time when the M&A market was soaring, the survey obtained views on a variety of M&A topics from a global sample of corporate executives and M&A advisors, 26 percent of whom were from the financial services industry.
Analysis by Deloitte Research indicates that four issues warrant attention by financial services executives considering or carrying out strategic acquisitions:
|•||The importance of basing your decision on facts and logic rather than emotions;|
|•||assessing the long-term strategic implications of the acquisition;|
|•||giving full consideration to different points of view; and|
|•||confirming that your organization’s follow-through capabilities are strong.|
