Chris Nicholson founded and has subsequently led Global Energy & Resources, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, which includes member firm clients in the electric power, oil and gas, mining, and water sectors. He now serves as Chairman and is based in Moscow where he leads the Russia/CIS Energy & resources practice and the National Energy companies initiative focusing on government owned energy companies in the electric power, oil and gas sectors. The global practice focuses on clients with revenues in excesss of $2 billion and has 15 centers of excellence. He is also an audit partner in Deloitte & Touche LLP (United States) and has served as lead client service partner to several of the U.S.'s largest power companies. Prior to rejoining the U.S. member firm in 1992 as an audit partner, Mr. Nicholson served as vice president, treasurer, and CFO of an American Stock Exchange traded independent power producer.
Both a UK Chartered Accountant and a U.S. Certified Public Accountant, Chris is a past president and current treasurer of the British American Business Council and the Association for Corporate Growth, Washington, D.C. He is a frequent speaker and author, most recently co-author of "Power and utilities M&A: Focus on North America," published in Euromoney's International Mergers and Aquisitions Review 2006/7, as well as "Twin Roles of the Energy CFO," published in Euromoney's International Power & Utilities Finance Review 2004/2005. Chris is serving as conference chairman of Power 2007 (Monte Carlo, June , 2007) and the FT Global Energy Leaders' Summit (London, June, 2007). He is also moderating the Climate Change panel at the British American Business Council Transatlantic Conference (Los Angeles, May , 2007) and spoke on energy security at the recent Boao Forum for Asia (Boao, China).
