Deloitte Netherlands: IMC Weekend School
Building a network for students and young professionals

The IMC Weekend School provides a three-year supplementary education program for youth aged 10 to 14 from underprivileged neighborhoods in Dutch cities. In an effort to create a network of educational ambassadors among the school’s alumni, the IMC Weekend School launched the Future For Life Institute. Deloitte Netherlands is providing instrumental consulting and communications support to guide the implementation. The institute engages the school’s alumni to encourage and mentor current students; alumni become role models, demonstrating how the school and pursuit of ongoing learning have positively affected them.
Deloitte Netherlands is collaborating with the school to define the institute’s mission, vision, and services, as well as its communications, virtual learning, and fundraising strategy. Deloitte Netherlands is advising the school on leading practices in social media, virtual learning for both current students and alumni, and developing a platform that offers guidance and access to searching for jobs and internships.
The school’s alumni network currently consists of nearly 900 former teachers, students, and volunteers. The IMC Weekend School and Deloitte Netherlands have ambitious plans to double the membership base of the Future For Life Institute by 2015. By working to expand the institute’s reach, the IMC Weekend School and Deloitte Netherlands are improving the quality of the workforce and increasing the opportunities for current and former students to pursue a successful career, while also participating more fully in their communities.
