Cup of Excellence 2010 (I)

Our coffee is one of our best ambassadors, opening doors throughout the world, showing the best of Guatemala.  Behind the scenes there is an entire organization supporting our producers in order to internationalize their product: ANACAFE.

Among the various activities conducted by ANACAFE in order to market the best coffees and reward the efforts of coffee producers to produce high quality coffee is its participation in the Program “Cup of Excellence” whose sixth version is being held this year, under the auspices of the Alliance for Coffee Excellence (ACE), which is a non – profit organization based in Montana and is owner of the program of competitions and Internet coffee auction “Cup of Excellence” (COE) that is held in different coffee-producing countries.

A winning coffee of COE is a coffee that has been tasted at least 5 different times by 2 different juries and has obtained a minimum score of 84 points. Some of the guidelines of ACE are the verification of the processes by an Audit Firm that involves the reception of samples, performance of three competitions (pre-selection, National and International), shipping of samples, Internet auction and exportation of the lots of coffee.  These processes must be verified so that both the international purchasers as well as the participating producers have a guarantee of the traceability and transparency of the process.
