Deloitte ran the campaign "Charity Marathon Deloitte” to raise funds for the charity program of the Holy Metropolis of Syros "We are a family".
The starting point was a few weeks before the Athens Classic Marathon, when Deloitte invited friends, associatesand employees to be informed about the charity program "We are family" and to contribute to this initiative of raising funds to meet the basics subsistence needs of the underprivileged and the poor individuals and families living or originating from the islands of Syros, Tinos, Andros, Kea, Mykonos, Milos, Serifos, Sifnos, Kimolos, Kythnos, Folegandros and Sikinos.
The response to the charity call was great with numerous and major donations until the day of the 30th Athens Classic Marathon where 77 runners - friends and employees of Deloitte – attended in order to raise money to support the charity program of the Holy Metropolis of Syros “We are a family”.
Upon the team’s finish, the charity aid initiative was completed and the result was moving: in these turbulent times friends, associates and employees of Deloitte gladly made their donations to help our fellowmen in need, raising 14,000 euros that will be donated to the charity program of the Holy Metropolis of Syros “We are a family” for the purchase and distribution of basics such as food, warm clothing, heating fuel and medicines for poor, underprivileged groups and especially children.
This is the third consecutive year that Deloitte takes such an initiative. In 2010 a group of 50 people ran in the 28th Classic Marathon supporting the organization ELIZA SOS and in 2011 a team of 57 people participated in the 29th Classic Marathon to support the program "Holistic Therapeutic Early Intervention Program for Infants" of ELEPAP.
The Initiative is led by George Cambanis, CEO of Deloitte Hadjipavlou Sofianos and Cambanis SA, who is a marathon runner and participates every year in the Athens Classic Marathon.
All of us involved in this effort by both Deloitte and the program "We're a family", we would like to sincerely thank everyone who helped achieve the successful completion of Deloitte’s project withtheir generous response to our charity call.
