ODIE (Horse racing association of Greece)
Deloitte is participating in a consortium that was awarded the task of advising the horse racing association of Greece for their transfer to a new site outside Athens and for the establishment of a new horses track in Thessaloniki. The new Athens site will house not only the horse racing track but also the equestrian centre for the Athens Olympic Games of 2004 and a horse park that will be unique in Europe. The task of the consortium as part of this advisory work would be to manage the invitation and evaluation of bits for the management of the two horseracing tracks and betting. This job is at this moment in progress.
Olympiakos Football Stadium
We carried out a corporate hospitality survey in Greece for OLYMPIAKOS F.C. The aim of the study was the analysis and identification of trends in corporate hospitality in Greece. Particular emphasis was given on sport events and especially on football. We surveyed managers in a number of domestic and multinational companies concerning corporate hospitality practices, activities and expenses. The objectives of the study were:
- the identification of the current strategy that the companies surveyed follow as far as their corporate hospitality activities are concerned
- an initial estimation of the market size for corporate boxes and VIP seats.
Finally, a brief research was conducted to identify whether there are any other sport clubs offering similar products (‘’corporate boxes’’).
Athlima SA
For a group of foreign investors, we carried out a pre-feasibility study for the construction of a multi-purpose centre at a site in the centre of Thessaloniki. This arena would be used for sports events, TV events, trade fairs, rock concerts and other purposes aiming at maximising its utilisation. As part of this study, we prepared a market analysis and illustrative financial projections for a ten-year period.
Hellenic Football League
In cooperation with the U.K based football industry team of Deloitte & Touche, we performed a feasibility study for the restructuring of the Hellenic Football League. Specifically the assignment included:
- Determination of the appropriate number of sustainable, full time professional teams
- Recommendation in the appropriate divisional structure, playing format and season calendar
- Proposal on the promotion and relegation mechanism between divisions
- Suggestions on the criteria for membership at the game’s elite division (i.e financial, facilities, club organisation etc).
