US GAAP Accounting Seminar for Shipping Companies |
Deloitte hosted the US GAAP Accounting Seminar for shipping companies that covered selected accounting issues and US GAAP application. The Seminar took place on November 30, 2011 at Maroussi Plaza Cultural Center (Fragoklissias 3a & Granikou Str. 151 25 Maroussi – Athens).
This seminar addressed to all shipping professionals including CFOs, Accountants, Financial Controllers, Reporting Managers, Internal Auditors and others who are required to have a deeper understanding of accounting and related issues for public shipping companies. The seminar was facilitated by partners, principals, and managers that serve the shipping industry. Our US GAAP seminars focus on accounting issues in more detail and ask participants to work through case studies, some of which are based on facts from actual transactions.
Following the last US GAAP Accounting Seminar which covered convertible debt, impairments and forecasting, financial instruments, segmented information, earnings per share and IFRS first time adoption, the topics that we covered in this seminar have been selected based on feedback received from participants as follows:
US GAAP Accounting update and recent developments
- Debt restructuring
- Asset vs. business Acquisitions
- Business combinations
- Derivatives
- Interim reporting
- Discontinued operations
We plan to continue to host these US GAAP Accounting Seminars on an ongoing basis. The future content of our seminars will again largely depend on participants’ feedback.
