RTI is a fundamental change to the PAYE system, requiring employers to move from the submission of summarised annual PAYE returns to a return per employee, per payment, to be submitted electronically to HMRC.
Many employers will already have started their RTI preparations but may still have unanswered questions about some of the more complex areas of RTI, particularly in relation to the treatment of share schemes and internationally-mobile employees. Others may not yet have started to make the system and data changes needed to prepare, and could therefore be facing a race against time as RTI draws nearer.
