Reporting of Specified Foreign Financial Assets

Background

As a follow-up to our recent newsflash, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) published temporary and proposed regulations providing guidance on the filing requirements related to the reporting of specified foreign financial assets. Following the release of the regulations, the IRS released the final version of Form 8938 on December 19. Form 8938 is the form that will be required to report these specified assets.
