Living Away from Home (LAFH) Reforms

Background

Australian Treasurer Wayne Swan announced on Tuesday 29 November, that the Government will introduce significant reforms to both the eligibility for and methodology by which the living away from home (LAFH) concession is applied in Australia. The basis for these reforms has been stated as following from widespread community concerns in relation to significant exploitation of the concession by a “narrow” group of people, notably foreign executives and workers.
