Emergency Budget 2010

Emergency Budget Capital allowances rules for qualifying carers
Legislation will be introduced to correct current anomalies for foster careers
   
EB Reduction in plant and machinery writing-down allowances and Annual Investment Allowance
Rate for main pool plant and machinery expenditure to decrease from 20% to 18%, and special rate to decrease from 10% to 8%
   
Emergency Budget 2010 First-year allowances on zero-emission goods vehicles
A 100% first-year allowance (FYA) will be provided for business expenditure on new and unused zero-emission goods vehicles.

The measures target the buying of a company where the tax written down value of the relevant plant/machinery exceeds the balance sheet value.
   
Electric vans: 100% first-year allowances
Electric vans: 100% first-year allowances
Legislation is to be introduced to provide a 100% first-year capital allowance for expenditure incurred on new electric vans.
   
Plant & machinery leasing Plant & machinery leasing - anti-avoidance
The measures apply to capital expenditure incurred, disposal events occurring and rent rebates payable on or after 9 December 2009.

Pre-Budget Report 2008

Contaminated Land Relief Contaminated Land Relief
An extension to Contaminated Land Relief proposed in December 2007, to include remediating long term derelict land, land contaminated by Japanese Knotweed and extending the list of qualifying expenditure where works are carried out by sub-contractors.
