Background
“I am determined to make Britain the most technologically friendly country in the world. The best place for research and development. These are ambitious but achievable aims" - Prime Minister David Cameron.
Following the announcement made in the Emergency Budget on June 22nd, of the Government’s intention to open a Consultation on R&D tax incentives and their support to innovation, the Deloitte R&D Tax Services team initiated discussions with the top R&D players in the UK (many of whom undertake R&D on a global scale) to understand their views.
This report is a summary of the conclusions of these interviews and a summary of what leading R&D organisations have to say about the UK R&D tax relief regime and its future, and the economic profile that they want for the UK going forward. We are facing decision time. It is our responsibility to share our views and engage in the conversation. Together we can change and improve the UK’s position on the global stage.
