We work with some of the world's largest multinationals in the telecoms, media and technology (TMT) industries and have a wealth of knowledge and understanding of this industry sector. We work closely with our colleagues in the international VAT team and our TMT industry group to ensure the advice that we provide to our clients is relevant, highly usable and tailored according to territory.
Within telecoms, we specialise in structuring business to consumer transactions, and advising on the VAT implications of cross-border operations and the international liabilities of services such as repairs and maintenance and ‘telehousing’. We have played a key role in providing VAT advice around the use of new fibre optic links across the globe. We also have extensive experience in assessing the VAT implications of contracts for media organisations, as well as ensuring their global VAT compliance.
For technology organisations, we have structured many global outsourcing deals, and provided advice on the VAT implications of such areas as repairs, maintenance and warranties.
We are acquiring a reputation as the firm of choice for ensuring global VAT compliance in the TMT sector, advising on supply chains, and, working in partnership with our tax management consulting colleagues, configuring global Enterprise Resource Planning systems such as SAP or Oracle.
