In situations of internal fraud, commercial conflict or dispute, the information gathering skills of Deloitte’s Business Intelligence Services team can provide our clients with key information on a company or individual. Utilising a combination of public record research and – where relevant – information gathering through our network of trusted sources, our work focuses on the key issues of importance in each case.

What we do

Our services have been used by clients to assist in complex cases, including intellectual property disputes, breach of contract and resulting claims, leaks of information, fraud investigations, and alleged asset tunnelling.

Where we can help

Our work is tailored to meet the requirements of each individual case and might typically focus on issues such as:

  • Identifying assets held by a company or individual, as well as indications of their previous involvement in ‘red flag’ activities, such as fraud, money laundering, tax evasion and bribery/corruption;
  • Identifying and examining potential conflicting commercial interests; and
  • Gaining a thorough understanding of the commercial operations and modus operandi of an individual or company.

Commercial dispute credential

A project on behalf of a large Western consumer business client involved in an intellectual property dispute. Our work comprised gathering detailed information on the product range, distribution channels and supply chain partners of the company with which our client was in litigation. This work focused on identifying the products sold by the defendant which used our clients' intellectual property, along with the jurisdictions involved in the target’s supply chain, with a view to bringing further litigation in those countries.
