Hugh has specialised in healthcare advisory for the past 10 years developing expertise in corporate finance and service reconfiguration. Hugh was previously a Director of Newchurch & Company where he undertook major service transformation reviews and advised on a number of PPP transactions. He also led the sales mandate for the HCI hospital in Scotland, the largest private sector hospital in Western Europe.
Hugh recently completed a five year mandate advising the Department of Health and all of the SHA’s on collaborative service reconfigurations, primarily in relation to sterile services and also pathology. The advice has been based on an analysis of the key constraints, operating requirements and technological/ IT enablers to devise optimise service reconfiguration.
Hugh is now leading the development of joint venture models and innovative commercial structuring to support the service development plans of Trusts and particularly Foundation Trusts.
Hugh has also been a senior manager in a transactions advisory group and has had commercial experience having held the position of finance director for a plc.
