CIOs recognise that IT has an essential role to play in driving innovation and that it is one of the key ways business leaders expect them to be adding value. While IT leaders generally have a view on how they can support their organisation's innovation strategy and where it can make the biggest difference, they are still not viewed by the business as an obvious source of innovative input. The survey points to a number of areas where IT functions could consider providing additional focus in order to deliver more in innovation terms, such as educating key stakeholders on the business and customer benefits of deploying new and disruptive technologies.
