Deloitte's Harvey Lewis appointed to the Public Sector Transparency Board

24 October 2014

Harvey Lewis, Deloitte Analytics’ research director, has been appointed to the Cabinet Office’s Public Sector Transparency Board.

The Public Sector Transparency Board has a significant role in overseeing the Government’s Open Data policy, whilst supporting public sector organisations to implement the Transparency and Open Data agenda. The Public Sector Transparency Board is chaired by Francis Maude, Minister for the Cabinet Office, and members sit alongside other Ministers and include open data thought-leaders, policy-makers and business representatives.

Carl Bates, Deloitte Analytics UK Leader, said: “Harvey has conducted significant research into the use of open data, considering how it can improve public sector services as well as deliver value to businesses. His expertise aligns to the UK Government’s ambitious initiatives to make data more widely available, and we believe his involvement will greatly contribute to progressing the Government’s open data agenda.”

Harvey Lewis said: “In recent years, we have seen a fundamental change in the way data is used by governments, businesses and people to make better decisions. Open data – whether published by government or business – will make essential and interesting data more widely accessible, leading to new products and services that are likely to prove tremendously valuable to consumers. When data is connected to a much wider network of insight-driven businesses, new ideas can flourish and form the basis of solutions that better meet today’s economic and social needs.”
