Sustainability Services

In the past, sustainability has been seen as no more than a necessary compliance issue, a box to tick or a shareholder question to answer. However, times have changed and whilst the regulatory environment is pushing for ever higher environmental targets, there is also a growing demand from consumers and businesses for greener, leaner and more ethical products and services. This means that no longer can businesses afford to treat sustainability as an add-on; it is now an essential part of future business planning and success.

But of course sustainability is about far more than protecting our environment; it is also about improving society, and ensuring good economic performance across all parts of the sustainability value chain.

At Deloitte, we bring together the vast breadth of the firm to provide a range of integrated and holistic services and solutions for all businesses. Whether your challenge is sustainable consumption, climate risk planning or even the design of a sustainable eco-city we have the in-depth knowledge and passion to help you make the right choices for the on-going success of your business.

Deloitte has significantly enhanced its dedicated Sustainability Service team during 2010 with the acquisition of the leading carbon management consultant dcarbon8 and the sustainability team within the leading international real estate advisors Drivers Jonas Deloitte.  Our core advisory services and solutions are divided into three principle divisions.

Our services

  • Responsible Business
Forward looking businesses are considering how to integrate sustainability into their organisation and the opportunities this offers to create economic value. Our Responsible Business Services team can help support your organisation by providing you with the following services: corporate strategy; operational integration and implementation; and reporting, assurance, communication and branding.
  • Climate Change & Carbon Management
Businesses have now realised that the low carbon economy is not something to be shied away from, but rather an opportunity to embrace. We offer a full range of climate change and carbon management services that include: climate risk and adaptation planning; carbon strategy; carbon accounting, assurance and CRC compliance; carbon footprinting and reduction; Carbon Trust services; and carbon markets and offsets.
  • Sustainable Property & Real Estate
We can offer a one-stop shop for all sustainability issues relating to the built environment. Our work covers building carbon management services; sustainable property investment, BREEAM and design advisory, occupational estate strategy; and planning advisory and the development of eco-cities.
  • Climate Change Finance
In order to achieve the financial and economic benefits of going Green up front investment is often required. The UK government estimates that £200bn is needed for the energy system alone over the period to 2020. Our financial advisory team has extensive experience in modelling potential investments and designing financing structures which enable our clients to raise external finance from banks and equity providers while making best use of public sector finance and subsidies where appropriate.
