Sports Tax

Tax impacts sport at all levels and is often made more difficult by having to work within a tax regime that is complicated, ever changing and not designed to cope with some of the unique aspects of sport.   From income tax on player wages through to capital allowance and VAT issues surrounding stadium development; from corporate tax on governing body, club and league profits to tax and VAT efficient funding of grassroots sport, managing the tax and VAT position is fundamental to a sport’s success.

Tax is also important for those outside the immediate sporting family – equipment suppliers, investors and financiers, Government (both central and local) and sponsors.   All these stakeholders need to understand the tax issues and opportunities specific to sport and incorporate those into their commercial relationships.
