Public sector agencies at all levels are increasingly becoming more prominent stakeholders within sport – not least because of their ability to provide a variety of resources to initiate and accelerate strategies and projects.
At Central Government level, there is a keen appetite to utilise sport to help deliver on key Government objectives on public policy issues such as crime, education, health and social exclusion for example. With our deep knowledge of the sports landscape and stakeholders, the Sports Business Group at Deloitte has worked with both Central Government and Sports Councils in devising and implementing their sports strategies.
Equally, local government and Regional Development Agencies have been instrumental in the provision of land as well as the funding of sports facilities, events and programmes – using sport as a catalyst for regeneration and economic and social development. The Sports Business Group at Deloitte has worked with local government and RDAs on projects such as stadium development and economic impact assessment.
We have been involved with over 20 public sector projects in the past five years.
Viability and financial review – Cardiff City Council (“CCC”)
"As a senior officer in the public sector this project was a complete departure from my normal work and Deloitte's advice proved invaluable. The reports presented by the group were always clear and concise"
