British Olympic Association – London 2012

Objectives

We have undertaken a detailed timeline planning exercise with the British Olympic Association to help prepare the best possible bid to host the Olympics in London in 2012.

Methodology

Our responsibilities in preparing the timeline have included:

  • Analysis of the Olympic Bid Requirements and identification of those areas that have changed over time
  • Review of the feasibility work prepared by the BOA and the preparation of recommendations for further work
  • Identification of the key stages and timescales for bidding and the preparation of a detailed project plan, with supporting analysis to explain the required sequence of events
  • Analysis of the roles and responsibilities for bidding, including the identification of project management and consultancy requirements
  • Identification of short term resource requirements to support a bid to funders for their support in the preparation of more detailed feasibility work
  • Support for the BOA in meetings with the relevant Government Officials
  • Identification and advice on the tax issues arising from both the bid itself and ultimately the successful running of the games to ensure tax efficiency
  • Advice on the legal and commercial issues arising from the bid.
