The Authorised Economic Operator regime (AEO) affects almost every aspect of a business that buys, sells or moves goods into or out of the EU. More enquiries are being received and at June 2009, HMRC had issued 84 certificates and had received 260 applications. The majority of those accredited are freight forwarders, but of late, larger businesses have started to become accredited.
