Congestion charging: Working with TfL to change traffic in London |

Transport for London (TfL) has introduced congestion charging in the central zone of London aiming principally to reduce congestion by 10-15% as well as to generate net revenue surplus of £80 million to £100 million per year. This is the world’s largest congestion charging scheme, involving:
- A charge zone which is 21 square km in size
- A network of over 600 enforcement cameras (fixed and mobile) sited at the 174 entry/exit points and within the charging zone
- The daily monitoring and charging of approx. 200,000 vehicles
- A broad range of innovative payment options including SMS text messaging from mobile phones used by some 100,000 people per week
- A post payment solution for fleet operators
Deloitte has significant experience in transport schemes as well as extensive experience of developing and integrating front and back-office systems. This, coupled with our experience from London’s congestion charging, makes us the ideal partner for other road user charging initiatives.
