Transport challenges for the 21st Century

Making the connections

Transport challenges

With population and economic growth placing ever-greater strain on transport capacity and the environment, the search for sustainable transport solutions is becoming pressing. Decoupling transport demand from economic growth will take decades, and in the meantime joined-up policy thinking and delivery will be needed if transport is to support, and not hold back, economic, social and environmental improvements. This is true in the UK but also globally.

While the costs of "getting it wrong" can be higher in the most crowded regions (such as much of England), the need for connected, sustainable transport solutions is shared around the world - ranging from tough action against emissions in California to urban congestion reduction in Stockholm, and longer distance road charging in Germany and Austria. More than ever, transport thinking and policy needs to be joined up across boundaries and borders.

Deloitte specialises in complex business transformation projects that require integration of strategy, process, technology and people, and a blend of our different skills and expertise. Many of the challenges now confronting clients in the transport sector require such an integrated multidisciplinary approach, and we have the breadth and depth of capability to help where needed.
