Insurance market update - February 2012

The Deloitte view for life insurers

Insurance market update - February 2012

Background

Corporate platforms are a relatively new feature in the workplace. This contrasts to retail investment platforms which have become an increasingly common part of the retail investment distribution offering. A corporate platform is a technology solution that is designed to provide a company’s employees with a workplace facilitated means of selecting and administering their investments and pension products. It provides employees with tools to help them make more informed decisions. Corporate platforms are new in the workplace, so will assets under management on these platforms experience the same strong growth that was seen on their retail equivalent?

Key findings

In this edition, Caroline Gardner gives an overview of both corporate and retail platforms and the main players in the market. She discusses the potential impact of pension reform, in particular auto-enrolment, as well as changes in workplace dynamics. She also covers the challenges facing the adoption of corporate platforms as a means for investment administration.
